Building Opportunity at LSU’s Annual Construction Interviewing Day

Where Future Builders Begin

Following a successful summer internship season, our team joined students and employers at LSU’s Construction Interviewing Day on Friday, October 24, at the LSU Student Union. Hosted by the LSU College of Engineering and the Olinde Career Center, the event brought together companies from across Louisiana to meet students preparing for careers in construction management, civil engineering, and related fields.

Mentorship that Builds Momentum

Representing Kent Design Build were Casey Richardson, Vice President of Construction; Darby Frugé, Director of Project Managers; and Ryan Delaune, Project Manager. The team spent the day connecting with students interested in Kent’s Summer 2026 Internship Program.

The program is designed for students ready to step into the field and lead. Over 12 weeks, interns work alongside experienced project teams on active job sites—learning to coordinate crews, manage schedules, track budgets, and keep progress moving from concept to completion. Interns gain hands-on experience, sharpen technical skills, and build confidence through mentorship, collaboration, and exposure to every stage of the construction process.

“Events like this are where the future of our industry takes shape,” said Darby Frugé, who leads Kent’s internship program. “LSU and the Olinde Career Center create an environment where employers can connect directly with talented, motivated students. It’s a reminder that when we invest in education and mentorship, we strengthen the entire construction community.”

Building Pathways to Real-World Experience

Throughout the day, Kent’s representatives shared real project examples and offered insight into how collaboration between design and construction fosters innovation, efficiency, and professional growth. Events like LSU’s Construction Interviewing Day give students a meaningful glimpse into the industry while allowing employers to invest in emerging talent.
