Northlake Christian School
This project involved the ground-up construction of a 37,000 square foot, two-story Upper School building for Northlake Christian School. The structure features a combination of structural steel and pre-engineered metal framing. The new facility incorporates two dedicated science laboratories, expansive open communal areas, and a versatile flex classroom designed with an operable wall for adaptable use.
The inclusion of a central fire-rated stairwell equipped with fire curtains on both the first and second floors played a role in the construction process. This innovative feature allows a portion of the stairwell to remain open, facilitating the penetration of natural light from the second-floor cupola. The building's exterior façade utilizes a blend of brick, stucco, and metal wall panels.
A significant challenge encountered during the project was the need to maintain construction activities within an active school campus environment. The safety and well-being of Northlake Christian School students and faculty were paramount throughout the construction process. To mitigate disruptions, our team implemented a robust coordination strategy with subcontractors and suppliers, meticulously scheduling deliveries and site operations to avoid peak school activities, particularly the morning and afternoon carline periods, ensuring a safe and productive work environment while delivering a successful project to the client.
