Swift, Safe, Successful: HVAC Installation at Southland Industrial Coatings
When you’re building an 87,000-square-foot industrial facility designed for precision, safety and growth, even the smallest details carry a big impact. At Southland Industrial Coatings, one of those details is a climate-control system built for scale: twelve 20-ton rooftop units (RTUs) paired with sixteen industrial exhaust fans, all working together to maintain the exact conditions needed for production. It takes more than muscle to put that kind of system in place. It takes planning, precision and partnership.

The Heart of the Build: Climate Control for Critical Operations
This new facility in St. Landry Parish is designed for high-intensity processes like intumescent fireproofing and industrial sandblasting. These operations demand tight control over air quality, temperature and humidity to protect materials, ensure safety and maintain operational efficiency. The HVAC system will deliver that control, keeping moisture in check, stabilizing the environment and supporting productivity year-round.
Lifting with Precision
To position the massive units, Kent Design Build partnered with Allegiance Crane and Equipment, whose crew executed a series of precisely coordinated lifts to swing each unit into place atop the steel structure. On the ground, the Guy Thibodeaux Air Conditioning team guided every placement and secured the equipment, ensuring the installation was as fast as it was flawless.
From the first hookup to the final placement, every lift was completed in a single day—a testament to the precision and preparation behind the operation.
Partnership in Action
This phase of construction shows why collaboration matters. Allegiance Crane brought lift capacity and control. Guy Thibodeaux AC brought installation expertise. Together, they delivered a critical milestone that sets the stage for the facility’s long-term success.
“When you’ve got a project of this scale, every partner has to bring their A-game,” said Braden Glasgow, Project Manager for Kent Design Build. “What we saw here was a textbook example of planning and execution coming together seamlessly.”
When complete, the Southland Industrial Coatings facility will bring 80 to 100 new jobs to St. Landry Parish, strengthen Louisiana’s industrial infrastructure and provide state-of-the-art production capabilities for years to come.
More Than Just a Building
At Kent Design Build, we believe a facility is more than walls and a roof. It is the sum of the partnerships that bring it to life. This HVAC installation was a powerful reminder that big jobs call for big machines, but even bigger teamwork.
