Building with Purpose, Advancing with Heart: Kent Joins Northshore Humane Society Capital Campaign
Monday, July 14, marked more than a ceremonial kickoff. It was the beginning of a new chapter for animal care, community connection, and compassionate service across the Northshore.
Kent Design Build was honored to join Northshore Humane Society, Greenleaf Architects, and members of the community for the official launch of the organization’s capital campaign and future site of a 21,000-square-foot animal shelter and community veterinary clinic.
Surrounded by the wooded acreage along Covington’s Harrison Avenue, where this vision will soon take shape, KDB President Kyle Kent, VP of Construction Casey Richardson, and Preconstruction Manager Guy Watkins stood alongside local leaders dedicated to redefining what animal care can look like in our region. From expanded medical services to walking trails and a shared public dog park, the new facility is thoughtfully designed to support both the physical and emotional well-being of pets and the people who love them.
A Vision That Reflects the Best of Us
Under the leadership of CEO Scott Berner, Northshore Humane Society continues to set the pace for what it means to serve with purpose. This project is more than a new building. It is a bold step forward for animals, families, and the broader community.
The future-focused facility will include:
100% indoor kennels for dogs and cats
Expanded medical space to serve more animals with greater efficiency
Dedicated outreach rooms for community education and engagement
Twelve acres of peaceful walking trails
A memorial garden to honor the life and love of pets
A public dog park for families and their pets to enjoy together
Every element has been designed to create a place of dignity, care, and connection.
A Partnership with Purpose
At Kent Design Build, we believe the best work happens when values align. Partnering with Scott Berner and the team at Northshore Humane Society, alongside Greenleaf Architects, is about more than building a facility. It is about helping realize a vision where compassion drives design and where animals and people thrive together.
