The Bayou Church Case Study: Part 2
You might remember from our previous newsletter, we’re currently working with The Bayou Church in Lafayette, Louisiana to restore a building which was destroyed by Hurricane Delta in October of 2020. On the surface, the storm left their building badly damaged, but it actually presented them with an opportunity to rethink their congregation’s needs and rebuild with the future in mind.
After weeks of rain, we’re extremely happy to be progressing on this job. The rain prevented us from quickly creating a suitable foundation. It’s important to not open up dirt work when it’s raining because it will saturate the ground and compromise the foundation. Now that the ground is more solid, we’re able to create a suitable base before pouring concrete. While waiting for drier weather, we were table to complete some interior renovations to the existing building.

Partnership with Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West was established shortly after Hurricane Katrina. Since its start, the chapter has successfully built nearly 300 homes for people in our local community. Habitat’s mission is to provide opportunities for people to have a decent place to live. People have the ability to enter the program based on 1) their need for housing and 2) their ability to purchase a Habitat house. Through volunteer help and community support, Habitat can provide opportunities for homeownership for those who may not be able to purchase homes on their own.

It’s All in the Details: Lafayette General Medical Facility
Community growth requires continual improvement of patient access to medical evaluation and treatment. We recently completed a ground-up 11,000 sq ft medical facility in Broussard, Louisiana, to ensure medical access in this rapidly growing community. Before breaking ground on this project, we were approached by a local developer and repeat client for medical expertise from a design-assist and construction standpoint. After partnering with the local developer alongside the local hospital network and design team through preconstruction, we started this unique project last summer. Patient experience was at the forefront of planning and building this facility. This medical facility is separated into three different tenant spaces: an imaging suite, wellness suite, and internal medicine suite. With each suite serving different functions, each required unique attention to detail.
KDB Family Day 2022
This past weekend, we were fortunate enough to finally hold our annual Family Day event! After nearly two years of not hosting the event, our team was happy to see its revival! The KDB team and their families gathered for a day of fun at First Baptist Church Covington. We’d like to graciously thank our friends at FBC Covington for allowing us to hold the event there. The outdoor pavilion with a softball field and beach volleyball courts was the perfect space for our family day!
